About Big Hair Network

We know what you’re thinking — WHERE IS THE SHRINE TO BIG HAIR I CAME HERE FOR?  Rest assured that we, like you, love big hair.  In fact, we spent most of the ’90s enshrouded in our own voluminous ‘do.  However, the Big Hair Network is actually a comedy site for women lampooning celebrities, pop culture, news, chick stuff and everyday absurdity.  We also pluck funny videos, news stories, photos and other silly stuff from the Web to share with you.  We officially launched in October 2013 and hope you’ll stick around ’cause we’re just getting started around here.

Okay, FINE.  One shrine.

Candy Kirby, Founder & Editor-in-Chief

A former television writer and humor columnist for outlets such as Redbook, Nickelodeon, HelloGiggles and Disney, Candy noticed there was a decided lack of comedy sites with a more feminine sensibility (no, she doesn’t mean vagina jokes and a floral background…although she can’t deny that would make a compelling package, as well) — which was her inspiration for creating the Big Hair Network.  Candy previously was a professional job hopper in Corporate America, having worked at several top public relations agencies in New York City, as well as in brand management for the Fortune 50 Company, Boeing, in Seal Beach, Calif. She then took the next logical step in her marketing career to become a staff writer for the CBS daytime drama, “The Bold and the Beautiful,” where she penned many scripts featuring prolonged heated stares and countless “Who’s the Daddy?” story lines.

Candy has a Master of Science degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, just outside of Chicago. Born and raised in another major city, Mechanicsburg, Pa., Candy now resides in Los Angeles with Mr. Candy, their two young kids, and their ridiculously fluffy cats, Lucy, Lola and Larry.

Yes, Candy is her real name. No, she has never been a stripper, prostitute or Scottish Terrier. Can’t believe everything you see in the movies, people. Except that all telephone numbers begin with the digits 555. That’s true.

Candy loves to hear from readers. Feel free to e-mail her at Candy@bighairnetwork.com or call the Big Hair Network hotline at 555-4321.
